I have seen a ton of these popping up and I must say these are awesome thing to have for any house project especially during this time. I have been wanting to put down new tiles and I had a hard time trying to get the perfect measurements for the door way. I also been wanting to down some our door rugs but have this awkward part of my house where it does not fit. This really solved my problems for this job and is very simple to use. If you are confusd on how this works I would say that the best way to describe this is that it is like those sculpture stainless steel pin art impressions toys that you may have seen kids use. They use several different thin plastic pieces to create an impression of the object you are trying to create a measurement around. This makes it easy to put down tiles, carpets, and pretty much anything you think may be difficult to measure out. This one comes with three contour measurement tools. The blue being the largest and the red/teal being the shortest. The red and teal are the exact same in terms of size. It is very simple to use in that you just need to press the device against the area you are measuring. Note that you do not have to put a TON of pressure and also that you should not exert too much pressure as you may actually cause the object to go between the plastic pieces and bend them. Once you have the right measurement, you slide the black plastic sheet up to that location to essentially lock it into place and then you begin the trace. It comes with a three graphite pencil (with a sharpener) so you do not have to buy or looking for one. It also comes with a very short and simple ruler so you can get additional measurements if needed. I do wish it did come with someone kind of carrying case to keep these together but that is more so my preference. It gives you the best closest measurement you can get so that you are able to easily cut out whatever you need to fit the area. What is nice about having three is what you can pretty much get measurements around a larger object all at once which is great. For me, these tools gave me a pretty close measurement of my door way so I was able to the best cut out when I was installing my new carpet. Overall this is a very nice and sturdy tool to have. It makes your life so much simpler so you are not sitting there doing a bunch of measurements and trial/error. You save a ton of time. Again do not try to force the device into whatever you are trying to measure as you may actually bend and break the device. You just need to simple push slowly and it will take the shape.

It’s alright and overall a nice tool. It is made from plastic and comes with tools (pencils and sharpener). It sure makes a huge difference when cutting since it is much easier and you can do it faster. You could probably find a much better one for cheaper. The plastic is low quality and feels cheap. I recommend loosening the screw a bit too, mine was a little too tight and didn’t work as well on my test part. Does the job, but the quality won’t last long unfortunately. It is not worth 20 dollars in my opinion.

In videos these things look like they should be easy to push into the contours but this one is not easy... hoping they loosen up with use

Easy to use, can be used on flooring, wood working, or metal fabrication, inside corners, outside corners, round cuts, and everything in between.

Bought these three for my son in law for cutting door entrances, corners and around anything built in. They work perfectly just press and cut out that imprint on anything.

Bought this for my son and he uses it often. He like to show others how useful it is. Just press it against and surface for an accurate angle measurement.

I’ve seen this item around and before it came on the market, I’ve definitely found myself wishing that there was an easier way to measure and cut those odd shaped areas that you can never quite get right.When these did come to market, I didn’t jump on it right away but I should have, it took me a few more projects of cutting and sanding over and over to realize that I really did need this little gadget.The great part about this one is that this comes 3 to an order – you’ll get one 10” and two 5” contour gauges as well as pencils, ruler and sharpener, everything you need to capture the right contour.These are simple to use, press the gauge against the shape you want to trace, make sure to press it hard enough so pins are engaged and you get the full shape you need, since it’s not a cut yet, if you need to redo it, simply pull the pins back out and measure it again.Once you have your measurement, trace it to whatever you are cutting and you are ready to cut.These can be used for large or small objects and you can confidence that you’re getting the right measurement the first time you cut.

I've bought similar products in the past, mainly the metal pin type, but this pair of contour gauges not only come with a storage bag, the package also contained 2 pencils, a sharpener and a quality metal ruler.The construction and quality of the gauges is both sturdy and functional, the aforementioned metal gauges being prone to slipping and loosening over time, and both have a locking lever as well.The value for money was good as I've seen single ones for double the price I've paid for two, but to get several freebies and extra features was very welcome indeed.A highly recommended tool for both a casual DIYer (they have been purchased to make my life easier on a kitchen tiling project) such as myself or a professional tradesman.
