The microphone that punches above its weight class! Sturdy, great quality and stylish.
I couldn’t be happier with this microphone. I choose to use this microphone over the SM7B which should speak volumes about how much I like to Rode Procaster! This microphone has excellent build quality and has the heft to back it up, this microphone is much heavier than most people might be used to, reassuringly so! It also comes with an excellent leather padded carry/storage case as well as a 7 year warranty. The top of the microphone screws off which will allow you to access the internal pop/wind shield which slides over the top of the capsule, shielding it from pops and “plosives”. Although it has to be said when speaking up close it does leave a bit to be desired, and as you can see in my photos I have opted to use a much more substantial cover. One of the great things with buying a Rode microphone is the eco system, Rode makes a shock mount that fits this microphone specifically, a boom arm that is designed to carry the weight of this microphone no problem, external wind/pop shields that willhelp you improve the performance in different environments... The list goes on. Gone are the days of checking if a random stand or mount fits your mic, Rode has you covered! This microphone for me personally blows the SM7B out of the water, so much so that I sold mine. Out of the box it has a much fuller sound, picking up on more of the low end “bassy” tones in your voice as well as delivering great performance in the middle and highs. This microphone sounds full and bright and is great if you don’t want to have to do “too much” post processing. Of course, the sound can be improved with post processing but this mic needs less than most on the market. The bottom line is that this microphone punches far above its weight and you will often see it compared with microphones 2x-3x it’s price, and it even beats some of them! It has an eco system of compatible accessories behind it AND comes with a 7 year warranty and all microphones are made in Australia!

Caution - not compatible with Zoom H1 and Zoom H1N
This is a review of two halves. First my frustration and disappointment with these not working with my existing Zoom H1 and Zoom H1N recorders, which I use to record currently with a Rode lapel mic very well (which ends in 3.5mm plug - the input to the Zooms). They were really faint, I had to put the Zooms to max gain and then max out the audio in the editor just to get reasonable levels with all the horrible noise that ensued as a result of this. After trying various XLR to 3.5mm cables I was told by a sound expert who patted me on the head that you can't really just use an XLR to 3.5mm adapter and expect things to work. At the same time Rode's customer service responded (and credit to them for answering me) and said the amps on the Zooms are not good enough.I decided to bite the bullet and ordered two Tascam DR-10X XLR recorders to see if throwing more money at it would fix the issue (as I liked the size and build of these mics) and sure enough.... I am so pleased to say that a proper XLR recorder works a treat on these. In a way this has been a blessing in disguise, if the XLR to 3.5mm cable worked I would have had tethered/wired mics, now I have a truly portable solution. The mics themselves, early days, but be aware these are omnidirectional (the reason I bought them, as I do want ambient sound). To give an example, if I walk and talk and go out of the back door you can then hear the water fountain in my pond, birds, aircraft etc (not loudly, but obviously there) which for me adds to the ambience. If you want to exclude this you'd need to look at other options. The build quality is superb. Handling sounds are there if you shuffle around, but less so than when I had a cable attached (that picked up the cable rubbing against itself). The audio level of these is lower than from my lapel mic, I have my Tascam set to "hi" gain and then in Final Cut need to run loudness boost and then up to about 3 to 5db, I think it's a feature, looking at other comments.Hope this helps, sorry for the alarmist review headline but I could find NOTHING at all on the net about Zooms not working with this mic and was about to return them, so hope I have saved someone else from doing so.

Really decent sound quality and build
Absolutely love these microphones from Rode. Build quality feels really good and the sound is always spot on. All our team love using them. Amazon had them on at an incredible price (normal supplier in Germany was £23 more each at one stage) so I bought a few more than I actually needed to have a couple of spares in case of drops - unfortunately that does happen and as robust as they are, getting a hefty shock from height, just isn't good. Just jumped on here to order some more before the price goes back up and thought I'd do the review. If you need a good quality standard microphone for a reporter or even a commentator (using the supplied "flag" as a lip mic type spacer works really well) you'd be pushed to find better or even similar at the price.NOTE: There are a few UK suppliers with these at the same price right now, but being on Prime means free delivery so it makes the value that little bit better.

great microphone for zoom meetings...
I wanted a microphone that actually worked consistently and projected my voice well. This is an amazing microphone. I wanted USB, rather than running a USB interface and an XLR input, something that could just stay in place turned on and ready as meetings come up through the day. This microphone plus Rode's boom work perfectly for this purpose. I figure I'm going to be presenting myself remotely for the foreseeable futre, at least I certainly hope I'm able to stay remote, and this makes the quality of the interactions go to a whole new level.

Works well - fairly priced - grat fit for its niche
Great mic for it's intended purpose - out on the road interviewing people. Ergonomically friendly and good wind noise suppression - you can happily use outside on a busy street for "street rapportage" style work.I especially like the way that you dont have to swing the mic between people during interviews - just hold it 18 - 24 inches (45 - 60cm) between both parties and let the mics internal magic work to level out the volumes. This is especially good if you are interviewing excited (or excitable!) people - since you wont get the clipping you often see as the mic isn't moved fast enough by the reporter.Paired it up with a TASCAM DR-10X plugged straight into he end and one AAA battery at the start of the day should see you through a full days interviewing.

Muy buen producto
Evidentemente la marca denota la calidad del prosucto. Si estás buscando hacer entrevistas en la calle o reportajes, este microfono te hará destacar. Es evidente la diferencia de calidad entre un micrófono cualquiera y éste. 100% recomendado.

Excellent microphone for podcast
I’ve been using a Rode Podmic for almost 2 years on my podcasts. But after considering upgrading without breaking the bank and after hearing and watching so many reviews, I decided to give it a try to the Rode Procaster. The result is just an amazing and powerful mic which perfectly gives more deeps to my voice and more quality. It is also way better to isolate the voice from any other ambient sound. If you’ve been considering this mic, I definitely recommend it, specially if using a Rodecaster Pro console with it.
