Good noise cancellation headphones with excellent sound quality and battery life
I purchased these Sony WH-CH720N noise cancellation headphones after reading a favourable review in What Hi-Fi magazine. They are good value for money, lightweight and comfortable to wear, and have a decent headband adjustment. But they can make your ears hot if it’s a warm day, and do slip a little if you are exercising. The active noise cancelling (ANC) is good, I don’t think it’s quite as good as the cheaper Anker Q20is which we also have (this could be due to the Anker’s much more padded cups). Also, when wearing glasses I do find the sides of the frames break the ear-cup seal a little over the ear, leading to a slight loss of perfect ANC, without glasses they are spot on. This isn’t so prevalent on the Anker’s as they have a much thicker foam cup. However, the sound quality (when ANC is on) is excellent: superb for both music, podcasts and audiobooks. No other in-ear headphones we own from Apple or Sony come close, and it’s noticeably better than the Anker’s sound. It’s not as good with ANC off, sounding a bit flat, but I always use them with ANC on. I’ve ended up using them much more than anticipated as the sound quality is so good. With high-bit rate MP3s or uncompressed music there is real detail which you’d miss with cheaper headphones.I bought these for two main tasks: to reduce the noise when mowing a large lawn, and for flights – and they’ve been great for both situations. These headphones make aircraft journeys a much more pleasant experience, once you are used to the ANC, it’s easy to forget just how loud the engine noise is in the cabin, taking them off for a few seconds is a good reminder! You don’t have to listen to anything via Bluetooth to use the ANC feature either, so if you just want some peace and quiet, they’ll fulfil that requirement too.If you’ve never used ANC headphones before, it’s important to point out that they don’t make loud situations silent (or virtually silent, unless you are spending thousands on a Bose Aviation headset) - be it in an aircraft or anywhere else with loud drone type noises - but they do reduce a fair proportion of the noise. They more you pay, the better the ANC.The left side features an on-off button which, when clicked, reads out the current battery charge remaining; also this side has the USB-C charging socket and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The right side has a button for the NC modes, then a trio of buttons for volume up, down and select which can be used to play/pause music and answer calls. The buttons are fairly basic and feel quite cheap, but have the basics covered. It’s worth installing the Sony Sound Connect app on your smartphone as you can enable another mode of NC, set-up equalisers, and change the bass settings to get the sound spot on for your preference. Some other little features in the app are for setting up a dual Bluetooth connection so the headphones can be paired with two devices at once; DSEE (upscaling compressed audio); 360 Reality sound via a hearing profile; and setting the auto-power off (useful to change if you want to use them as pure ANC headphones with no audio playing.) Once you’ve tweaked the settings you don’t need to have the app running at all.The battery life is superb, after a 4-hour flight they were still at 90%. You’ll never have to worry about charging them, and just a very short charge will boost the battery for hours. The Bluetooth connection is rock solid and phone calls are crisp, the built-in mics doing a good job. They come with a USB A to C charging cable, but no charger. Also in the box is a 3.5mm headphone male-to-male cable if you don’t want to use Bluetooth (which I’ve not tested). Finally, no case is included either (it's a bit mean not to include a basic soft case Sony!), so if you travel at lot, one may be useful.

The best headphones!
I purchased these at the beginning of the year, and have been using them nearly every single day since. I can proudly say that I have never had a singular issue with these headphones. As someone who wears glasses, finding the perfect pair of headphones is a big deal as other ones had previously made it painful to wear both glasses and headphones. However, the headphone padding is very soft and the overall headphones are light and very durable. I also wear these on jogs too and they’ve never fallen off!I chose the white option which was a great choice of colour, and a common concern about picking lighter coloured headphones is that if they get stained; as a messy student I do tend to get pen everywhere, even my makeup gets on the headphones but there’s nothing a simple wipe can’t get rid of.The battery life is absolutely insane, I used these for 4 days and even forgot to disconnect them but the battery hadn’t ran out. It also charges up very quickly. I love the option of pressing the on and off button really quickly to hear what the percentage is on, very unique and very handy. The headphones also have a very good range, I have my phone on one side of the house and I’m on the other, but I’m still able to hear everything functions as normal. The clarity doesn’t get any better, it’s honestly amazing and makes me feel very immersed in the music. The noise cancelling button is also good especially when I’m travelling as I obviously still need to hear which stop to get off ofI especially recommend these to students that don’t want to spend too much on headphones but still want good quality and comfy ones that are within a fair budgetWill definitely stay loyal to Sony headphones, any of their products are at peak functionality and are of highest quality regardless of what you get.

Works well for the price.
For its price, the headphones perform well and have clear sound quality. After the death of my Beats Solo 3, I turned to Sony as I was looking for another reputable brand with a wide range of products. When seeing these headphones I bought them due to their relatively cheap price and promise of Active Noise Cancellation. The design is nice with a navy blue colour, easy to connect, and battery life can easily last me a whole week on one charge as someone who listens for at least 3 hours a day. In terms of audio quality, it was a slight downgrade from my beats as they lack the heavy bass I was used to but still good enough for the average listeners. It connects well with the Sony app where you have the option to change the audio profile to your choice so I’m sure if I look into that I can better suit the headphones to me. They do however feel a bit light and flimsy in compared to my Beats which had real leather ear cups and a solid metal band inside but when wearing them on the pro side, they are light and comfortable in comparison to my old headphones that would squeeze my head and hurt my skull. The noise cancelling is not that good however with it reducing outside sound a lot, but not completely blocking it out. They are large in size and can easily expand for those with larger heads but do note, there is no case for carrying so I often find myself having them stored around my neck. When looking for a good pair of headphones for a reasonable price, these will do the job. The nice cancellation work well enough for most, the sound is descent, and the battery is long lasting. Only downsides are due to the price which obviously only a top end headphone could achieve but for what the price is, I saintly recommend.Sincerely,A broke uni student.
