ROADTEC ROADTEC03 Fountain Pond, Black

I bought this more than 6 weeks ago for a DYI birdbath. It arrived in great shape and quickly. I plopped it into the birdbath and left it there 24/7. Sorry for no picture, but it has exceeded all my expectations. Temps from 32 to 80 degrees. Sun and rain. I abuse it, and it keeps on keeping on.1. I used rocks in the birdbath and didn't wash all the grit off of them. After 2 days, a layer of fine silt was stuck on the solar panels to the point that charging was impacted. I gently cleaned the panels with mild soap and water, and the fountain performed like new.2. The crows use it for their science experiments. I got busy, the bath filled up with slime, and the pump was struggling. Once again, I cleaned the fountain and the filter, and once again the fountain was like new. The crows even yanked the fountain out of the birdbath one day - no problem.3. I let the bath go dry, and once again the fountain was fine.One thing to note, however. I intended this as a functioning birdbath that songbirds and hummingbirds would use. It has taken a while for that to happen. At first, birds would fly in and then divert when they got within a few feet of the bird bath. I believe this was because of the humming sound the fountain makes when pumping. The birds are coming around, however. At first they would use the bath only when the pump wasn't operating. Over time they are getting over that, and now it's become a hub of activity. Sparrows, chickadees, goldfinches and hummingbirds all visit. I watched a big fat robin spend 15 minutes taking a bath from head to toe. If the fountain breaks tomorrow, I'll replace it with pleasure. It adds so much to the garden.

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.  Works best when you keep the water clean. Sometimes the intake gets clogged with small debris. I ended up "adjusting" the size of the holes in the fountain head as it was shooting water outside the bowl. I've had it for more than a month and it's working great.

I added this fountain to our bird bath. It is lovely as you can see from the picture. It uses solar energy so no need to plug in.

The original Roadtec solar fountain I purchased that actually had a wire from the pump to the solar panel started out good but then would just stop in the middle of a beautiful sunny day. When I contacted the company they immediately responded with suggestions but when those didn’t work they were ready to refund my money but I asked about replacing the fountain with an cordless version. They suggested the upgraded version and placed the order for me & I received it 2 days later! This unit is great. It even works on a cloudy day. The spray isn’t as strong when it’s cloudy but I only wanted the bubbly so the water is moving in the birdbath. If it’s windy, the spray just blows away and depletes the birdbath of water.

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.  This fountain looks good in my bird bath and will keep it mosquito free. I have to use it without any of the sprayers because the bird bath is narrow but it still looks good.

Product is super easy to set up. The spray is soft and light - not like a gurgling fountain. We set it up in an average size bird bath and it began pumping up water in minutes. We've had intermittent sun and clouds since we got it, and it does work frequently in light overcast conditions. So far it always works in full sun but does not appear to work when in full tree shade or heavy cloud conditions. NOTE: If the wind really kicks up, it can cause the spray to blow out of the bird bath. This would ultimately empty the water. But we found that putting the nozzle right down on the short attachment (instead of using the longer stem) pretty much eliminates this problem. Thus far we are very happy with the product and are seriously considering buying another one for our second bird bath.

I am not a fan of Solar powered stuff. It never seems to work. Be it faulty wiring, cheap batteries, or my bad placement, I have always been disappointed in solar stuff. (My wife purchased this device) That said, this little dodad does what it said it will do. Instructions? They are really rough. Fitment of pieces? They are "OK" But wow we dropped this in the bird bath and away it went. Direct sun it will overheat, which the instructions mention that the system will shutdown until it cools, and it did. It even works on cloudy days. I am impressed. This fountain gives me hope that one day I shall find a solar light that charges during the day and works at night.
